Indigenous People Of Canada
Indigenous peoples (or Aboriginal peoples) in Canada refers to the peoples of the First Nations, Métis, and Inuit nations. These are the first people to live on what is now known as Canada's land. Over 1.6 million Canadians identified as Indigenous in the 2016 census, accounting for 4.9 percent of the country's population. Indigenous culture, language, and social structures have influenced the growth of Canada and continue to expand and prosper despite extreme adversity, despite being seriously endangered and in some cases extinguished by colonial forces.
